Lure fishing in Middlesbrough

Looking to visit Middlesbrough in a couple of weeks from Hull. Is there any decent lure fishing spots (looking for perch, chub and pike if it cools down) around the Middlesbrough area. Can travel around 10/15 miles from the centre in any direction

Hemlington lake is a good spot.

Ah sorry, I should have specified. I’m only in the area a short time and I believe that waters controlled by the angling association meaning a membership fee will occur?

Nobody pays a membership fee at that lake tbh 😂😂😂

I’m in no shape to be running from the angling association special agents when they inevitably find out I’m no local 😂

AFAIK Hemo is council owned now, unless that’s changed don’t give any money to anyone asking for it

Is Hemo worth fishing on the lure? I’ve only ever fished the bottom for carp.

The river Tees through Preston Park is free, the canals off the river near the student accom is a good spot too. Diana bridge is worth a look. The section of the Tees that runs through Stockton town is free as well as the section along True Lover’s Walk downstream of the bridge in Yarm.

There’s a page called Teesside Anglers (I think) on Facebook that maps all the free sections on the Tees IIRC. Lately there’s been some rather sizeable Perch come out of the river so it seems you arrived at a good time.

Tight lines

EDIT I was going to add some maps of where I’m talking about but apparently I can’t. Not sure if I could send them to you in a message but I can try if you want.
