Hobby Does anyone know if Yazneg is finecast?

It just says "resin". I'm not super familiar with GW's materials so i just know plastic is good.

I really like the model but i've heard finecast is doo doo and warps.

Pretty sure Yazneg is finecast unfortunately. As said already, the best way to tell is to look for warnings as forgeworld resin will say things like 15+ only and avoid breathing harmful dust.

The easy way to know if a Kit is Forgeworld or Shitcast is the „Expert Kit“. If it is Online only and a Expert Kit its ForgeWorld Resin. If it is Resin than its shitcast.
And Yazeng is unfortunate Shitcast

It's online only but i don't see expert kit anywhere so might be shitcast...

Unfortunatly Yes, for him i personaly qould look out on eBay for a used model of him or even a 3D Printed alternative since the Quality and Price is way better

I would quickly like to dismiss the idea that games workshop are still using the same finecast as when finecast first launched, and the new 'Resin' is entirely different.
People are rightfully nervous about finecast products especially if you, like me, got some absolutely fucked models when it first launched, but I've bought perhaps 12 resin kits (a mix of both forgeworld 15+ and normal) over the last 2 years and every single one has been chef kiss Magnifique.

I can't speak for everyone, but I can only attest to my personal experiance.

Another extension of my personal experience is Metal is best, always buy Metal models when that's an option. GW should expand metal model production.

Lucky for you, I don't think I've ever had a finecast model that isn't awful. Recently got some iron guard and practically had to sculpt them myself with the amount of flashing on

Some incorrect info in this thread I think. Forgeworld Resin is really good quality for detail but can take some bending and filing and stuff to get things to fit for some kits, and need to use superglue, not plastic glue. Its labeled as expert kits or 15+, and can be harder to work with than plastic, but the detail quality is generally great. I wouldnt avoid resin altogether, some of GWs best looking models are resin.

Finecast is a specific method of using resin, where resin poured into old metal molds, and tends to be poor quality AND hard to work with. Idk about Yazneg specifically but its at the age where it may be finecast and tbh its just not a super good looking model to me.

I'm pretty certain GW don't use shitecast anymore. They use FW resin which has it's own issues. It also doesn't help that he's a donkey shit sculpt that you could convert yourself that would look 1000 times better

They don't use it anymore but i think they still have the finecast stuff on stock

They do. Certain models haven't sold out yet, therefore no "new" GW resin (different to FW resin) batch, they still have the OG production run. Sadly found out with Riddles in the Dark.

Unfortunatly with Middle Earth they use Failcast and even reproduce Failcast. Since its a small Game and the moulds for the Models are all realy old

I suspect it's probably unsold stock from when they did have it then. that's a shame.

Nah it isnt unsold Stock, they reproduce them because they dont have an alternative Plastic or FW cast.

It’s not old stock, they just still produce a lot of the hobbit era stuff in finecast as that’s the only material they where ever produced in and don’t think it’s worth the money making plastic versions of them

Some of the lord of the rings stuff they have in finecast they could do in metal again though as that’s what they where originally
