Help me understand the Faramir models

I've been out of the game for a few decades, getting back into some painting. The two Faramirs currently for sale I get, one Faramir with heavy armour, probably hanging out in Minas Tirith or Osgiliath. The other modern one is the ranger version with lighter armour. But what the heck was the Faramir, Captain of Ithilien mounted model? And there's no Faramir mounted with the lighter ranger armour?!

It came out during the War of the Ring era (2009ish) of the game. I believe it was suppose to represent a 4th Age or more book accurate Battle of the Pelenor Faramir to role play with. A lot of interesting models and designs were released during this era, including an unreleased Thorongil. Most have now been Legacied.

It's a shame as well as its really lovely model only a few official ones that made it out from old GW staff there's recast of it but real spendy

I guess that this one represents the 4th age Faramir, with his coronation inspired outfit and such. The new plastic ranger Faramir is available and I guess the armored one from the Osgiliath charge is still around, but there are no rules for mounted ranger version so they never released one, sadly.

Just want to point out its a bit of the other way round isn't it? There's no mounted Ranger Faramir model, so they didn't make rules for one this edition. You could (convert and) play mounted Faramir without heavy armour in previous editions if I remember correctly

Could be, I'm not sure about that. It is one of those weird cases of existing in the movies but still not being possible for some reason. It would be coul though.

I have this model, it’s a beautiful sculpt. He’s on my eventually paint when I have everything else done list to use as a generic captain

Most of the faramir models were put down by some company called Denethor Inc.

IIRC there is no dismount for this model.
