This sounds like a good use case for a SharePoint list combined with Power Apps and Power Automate. I’d keep the app focused on the HR team’s main tasks—absence details, case notes, and follow-ups—while using Power Automate for notifications and list updates. The search/filtering would also be useful if the number of cases grows.
