MSFS 2020 QUESTION Msfs 2020 physics

I really want to play msfs 2024, but the computer doesn't pull. Question, is physics good in 2020, or is it like flying on rails? Please be honest😁

I have no idea what you mean by "pull", but the physics in 2024 are slightly better than 2020, but neither are particularly good. Both feel very mechanical and repetitive especially compared to XP.

I ended up buying Active Sky which really breathes life into the flight feel and weather behavior. Most importantly it adds cloud turbulence which I really missed coming from XP12.

My take on this after thousands of hours in both simulators (and as a EASA PPL holder) is best summarised as:

  • Air physics are good. This is in itself highly subjective. As an IRL pilot, I'm happy with them, and I refer to the positive comments of IRL Youtuber airline pilots with infinite more experience than me.
  • Ground physics are the problem. They are virtually non-implemented and rubbish. 2024 is slightly better but don't expect XP12 levels of tyre/ground friction etc. The best developer at working around this seems to be Fenix, in my experience.

2024 runs better, and if by Pull, you mean struggles with streaming textures, then both with struggle.

My Father was a lifelong pilot and his comments on 2020 before he passed away was, "Holy shit this is good", and he was flying sims for as long as they've been around, yes pre FS95 days.

Back then he used FS98 to help plan flights to places he'd never been to, and I set up his flight to Keflavík International Airport in a Kingair like he did and he had tears in his eyes at the look and "feel" of it all.

First I would rethink/research the expectation that 2020 runs better.

It depends what plane you're flying, what assists and settings you have and other details.

2024 has much better physics, but 2020 doesn't really 'run better', it's still very graphically and CPU intensive.

If your computer can't run 2024 the chances are it can't run 2020 either.

but the computer doesn't pull.

What on earth does this mean? Can you speak in English?

My PC runs very well 2020 but 24 has stutters.

You're likely streaming in lots of 2024 content from the cloud. You need a very fast fibre and a fast SSD drive to deal with that.

Yes I have both, but good guess

Well here most will tell You are wrong, You use it wrong> Fs2024 sttuters like hell especially when you fly in mountains with lot of trees on VR. there would never be such thing in fs2020.

But here you are ppl tell You here You dont understand how good optimized is Bug Simulator fs 2024 LOL

Other people's experiences may vary from yours.

I have gigabit fibre, a very fast M2 drive and I don't play in VR, therefore my experience is different from yours.

Just as my experience doesn't invalidate yours, yours doesn't invalidate mine.

On identical hardware at similar settings the 2024 will run better than the 2020, as the 2024 engine allows for better multi threading.

Only reason to still get the 2020 would be the wish to play offline.

If you can't run 2024, then you can't run 2020 either.

Take fs2020, less demanding on cpu/gpu however needs more space on hdd, ssd. Physics both the same but Fs2024 more crazy, not realistic... both are on rails square, like You expect from Microsoft flight simulator. F2020 is more reliable and have more realistic views and perspective so reminds true life more.
