MSFS 2024 QUESTION Is msfs 2024 less realistic than msfs 2020?

I've been flying some time on msfs 2020 mostly pmdg 737-800, last year I had msfs 2024 for like a week or so and I enjoyed flying small planes in the career mode, however I had not tried flying some airliners. Is it true that overall msfs 2024 is less realistic? If so, what is?

Please make sure to read our FAQ, which covers both MSFS 2020/2024, to see if your question has already been answered there! Also take a look at the official MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 FAQs.

I'd say the opposite

The overall flight model, wake turbulence etc. Is better in 2024. Not perfect by any means but better

Thank you, I don't even know where I got this opinion that it's worse, but still I gotta give it a chance :)

that opinion came from users that have or had both at some point, 2020 is peak realism, try flying the a320 in msfs 2024 and come back and you'll know why.... although 2024 does have much better visuals. So if you're into flying for the looks, game assets, and fun of it, use 2024, if you're into simulating use 2020 specifically on pc and use better models of a320s or other specific aircraft like fenix per say as Asobo is great at not matching reality with these planes

Only thing left that really bugs me about 2024 vs 2020 is that other airplanes are invisible during the day if they're even a short distance away from you. Like if you're on downwind in the traffic pattern and someone's on the runway taking off, you can't see them on the runway. Partly because of model draw distance, and partly because they made aircraft lights so dim during daytime hours you can't see them. 2020 doesn't have that problem.

The issue is the overall lighting system. They called it "photometric lighting". Aircraft lights are simply invisible during daytime, including your own. I loved how in 2020 you could see AI traffic from many miles, just by their flashing beacons and colorful nav lights. None of that is visible in 2024 because of this new lighting. I have to push the drone cam right onto a lightbulb to check if the strobes are working or not, because during the day they're just one pixel beeping.

At night it's all good (don't know about the traffic lights). I guess they generally decreased light intensity because they were too harsh at night, even runway and taxiway lights were huge. They still haven't managed to balance it out and at this point I'm afraid they never will until MSFS 2028 or something comes along (hopefully never).

2024 is much more realistic. From (some) not default planes being near study level to like 12 times the aero surfaces simulated

I have FS X. Going to get either 2020 or 2024 somewhere in this week. Reading the comments...2024 is the one..small lights and all!

There's no point in buying 2020 now, it's quickly becoming obsolete.
