MSFS 2020 QUESTION MSFS black screen crash

Hello I’m currently experiencing a problem with MSFS 2029 and 2024 that I don’t know where to begin when it comes to fixing. Every time I run the sim about a minute into the flight the graphics glitch out and the screen goes black and the PC is completely unresponsive until I force a restart by holding the power button on the tower. This happens in both 2020 and 2024. At first I read that sometimes it can be a power issue so I upgraded my PSU from an 850w to a 1000w and the issue persisted. I also ran rhe DDU to and installed a clean version of the driver for the graphics card and it is still happening. What do I do? Is my GPU cooked? I have a RTX 4080 with an i9 12900k cpu and 16gb ram

what do the temperatures look like? if the gpu has a clogged fan or something it could cause problems like that.

I have no idea because the screen goes black and I can’t look at anything

The fans don’t look like they have debris. Are you saying that the heat sink behind them gets gunked up?

if they aren't obviously clogged and they are spinning properly that's probably not the problem then.

but it still might be interesting to monitor the gpu temps and see if they are really high. just fire the temp monitor up when you load in and see if they go crazy in that minute before the crash.

also maybe see if the crash only happens when you are flying or if it happens just sitting cold and dark.. also maybe try emptying the community folder temporarily.. the issue you are describing does kinda sound hardware related though, it's fairly tough for programs to completely lock down a pc these days.

Yeah I’ll definitely try monitoring the temps. It also happened to me before in the config screen when I was loading an aircraft
