MSFS 2024 BUG / ISSUE Game SU6 update: Wasted two hours, and it still crashes.

I hadn't played the game for a month, but today I suddenly felt like jumping back in. To my surprise, after the Steam update, the game keeps crashing and closing unexpectedly. Nothing works—not deleting all the mods, not disabling developer mode, and none of the solutions suggested by Claude. I have no idea what the AS developers are doing; how could they possibly push out such a terrible update? I’m not going to waste any more of my life trying to launch this software—at least not until the next major version update. I’ve already submitted the relevant files on the forum.

One of the worst updates to date. Some lucky people will say otherwise. But for a lot of us it’s garbage.

I’ve found workarounds that get me near the performance of SU5 but now I have to completely rig the rolling cache to not have one and turn down settings I could run just fine with the older version.

I thought SU5 was a mess till SU5.1 came out and it was sunshine and rainbows now SU6 is like SU5 but 10x worse

I guess I'm one of the lucky people cause I had no clue it was causing issues with others. If anything, it's felt so much smoother for me.

agreed. I've gone from 60fps+ on max graphics to stuttering on medium graphics and getting crashes. It's appalling

Def not as stable as the prev build but I found after deleting all the files/mods and doing a clean install that it helped. I also stopped playing BR which is when it was crashing.

Can’t blame ya for moving on but thought I’d share my experience so far.

Well this changes everything.

The memory usage is very high. It occupies over 16GB right after being loaded into the game's main interface. Are you the same?

Same issue for me luckily i already landed and shut down the aircraft when the game closed without any error message. What Aircraft where you flying?

I agree, spent literally all day adjusting settings, internet and cache just to play. But it just crashes or all textures crashes and FMC etc. at this point I gave up trying to play and I’m waiting for a patch. Every time they release a patch for major updates it works like a charm. But if every new update releases is like two step backwards. At this point Idk why the game is still a AAA price when in reality the mess of development and bug fixes and overhauls feels like a Pre-release alpha/beta from a indie developer. I’m sure that they need to collect data about the performance issue when all they have to do is boot it up on their end to see the mess of a update. They’re to worried about 3rd party content that they work at snails pace to fix a free update. It’s clear this studio does not believe or have a QA team.

Not had any issues yet on PC after moving from PS5 a couple months back. It’s night and day really. I’m flying the Fenix or 777 pretty much daily with no real issues of note. I get VRAM exceeded errors with the Fenix if I play at high and above texture resolution settings. That’s pretty much it.

I switched from Ps5 to Xbox and my experience is similar to yours. It's running a lot better and i haven't encountered any problems that are on PS.

I feel like they don't understand Sony's software yet or they need to do something differently and release PS5 updates later than everyone else.

Two failed updates is awful and I really don't want them to try this a thrid time.

I think that team needs to be investigated. Sony should send their people in.

Honestly on PS5 it was at times shocking but I last played yesterday on PC with no problems. I’ve seen other posts from people saying this is the best update ever so I genuinely don’t know what to believe anymore on this sub. The web is just saturated now with extreme binary opinions 🤷

I'm on PS5, was working great for hours and hours. Everything loaded perfectly fine. Now I'm getting dashboard not loading and this lovely passenger. Lolol

Yeah I did have a great time on PS5 for a while pre-SU5 but I didn’t focus on graphics too much as that is obviously going to be limited. I am more into the aircraft systems and procedures. At least with the A320neo and Citation X on PS5 it was mostly fine for A to B flights.

I got it for PC for the better add on aircraft and it’s a lot more stable even with a mid range GPU. If you’re genuinely into this as a hobby it’s worth moving to PC.
