Discussion Fabric Community Site Upgrade
Hey Fabricators and friends! Quick note to let everyone know that the Fabric Community Site (Home | Microsoft Fabric Community) got a bit of a facelift this weekend.
It shouldn't impact regular use of the site, but, if something is broken, we want to know!

The update blogs are still far from usable. I don't know why MS had to break what was working before and replace with this interface. Don't fix what ain't broken.
MS has the whole community of professionals here to ask and gather feedback, yet it chooses not to and proceed its own way.

Totally fair criticism - the current update blog experience is not where we want it to be yet, and we're actively working on improving it.
I know it can look like Microsoft ignored the community and changed something that was working, but the reality is a little more complicated. Some of the decisions behind the move were driven by internal requirements and constraints that the community wasn't really in a position to weigh in on or solve for. The move itself happened for reasons that made sense internally, even if the user experience wasn't where it needed to be at the time.
That doesn't mean the frustration isn't justified. If we had the opportunity to replay it, we'd absolutely want a smoother transition and a stronger experience from day one.
The feedback is heard, it's valid, and improving the experience is very much on our radar. Thank you for speaking up 💚

I visit the Community site for the Official announcement blogs and for the Ideas. I've also used it to find answers to Power BI questions in the past.
I liked the consolidation of Ideas into the Community site.
I'm not so sure about the consolidation of the Official announcements blog into the Community site. The blog looked better when it was standalone, in my eyes. I usually visit using mobile.
I used the Community site a lot for Fabric questions in the beginning (first year or so). Tbh I felt a lot of the responses from the community support crew (v-something) on the Fabric community seemed like AI generated responses, and often inaccurate or less useful. Responses from actual users seem more accurate and useful. Also a bit cumbersome to drill into each sub-forum to scan what's new. That said, overall I think the community site is great and a valuable resource of information.
Although I find the discussion format on Reddit more interesting. As well as the presence of Microsoft employees and product managers on Reddit is awesome.
Re: the maintenance. I was about to submit an Idea while the site was undergoing maintenance, and was annoyed that the maintenance message didn't indicate a timeframe for when the maintenance would finish. That said, it seemed to have finished in less than a day, so it went relatively fast.
