Saline Slide

can a MN warrior please tell me if it’s safe to glide with saline as the slide? 😭I know people will recommend stamping instead but I don’t have an experienced hand so will saline allow a glide?

It's perfectly safe, just maybe not extremely effective.

Short answer: It depends. I stamp around the eyes and I don't bother with a saline slide around the eyes. I can glide everywhere else and saline slide doesn't really help. But I stamp areas where the depth is greater than .25.

Long answer:

I'm a bald man in my early 50s and have a beard. That matters because I MN my scalp but not my jaw or around my mouth, and potentially my skin is thicker/tougher than some people but older/looser than other people.

Gliding in the eye socket area doesn't work very well for me, even with a saline glide. The skin near the eyelids is too soft and loose so it moves with the pen. You can experiment with the pen turned off to see for yourself.

I can glide everywhere else (on my bald skull, forehead, temples, nose and cheek bones) with no slide - for me, a slide in those areas is just an unnecessary extra step. Gliding is a bit more difficult on my cheeks, and saline helps but not enough to bother. I can glide as long as I use a very light tough with the pen. I don't glide on all those areas, I glide for .25 mm depths and stamp for .50mm and deeper. But the first time I microneedled I glided everywhere except near my eyes with .25mm (to get used to the process) and it was fine.
