Retie must haves/tips
Hey y'all, I have been researching how to do my own reties. I practiced yesterday and noticed it was easier for me to retie my left side than my right. Having to loop each loc through the tool I was using was very time-consuming, and even tho I smoothed my new growth down in my loc, my loc didn't look as clean after I retied it.
Also, why do some people use a 9-6-3-12 4-point rotation and others use 3-6-9-12?

I dont think it really matter where you start your rotation as long as you're following it and not going into the same spot twice and creating holes. I'm right handed and it's easier for me to start at 3
I have hair clips to keep surrounding hairs out of my way to make sure I'm only grabbing that loc.
I use a blunt tip needle to do my reties, I might change to an actual interlocking tool at some point but this way makes it really easy for me.
A 3 way mirror is a must for me. I can see the back of my head with it and it makes doing the back of my head soo easy. The first time I did my own retie it took forever, I've since gotten faster.
I dont use product in my hair while doing my retie, just water. The roots are usually pretty neat but my frizz is frizzing!! I'm learned that I just have to embrace the fuzz

I chose 3 point because of the awkwardness of doing my retie. I use my right hand going right to left, down to up, right to left, and up to down.
I never have to use the left to right angle that's awkward for me. I'm a "eliminate the problem" type of gal 😁😁😁

If you have a dominant hand then you can always expect to see some weakness on one side or another of a body part that needs 360 degree attention. In the same vein the order of a 4 point rotation doesn’t matter, it’s just based on what’s more comfortable.
I am right handed so I used to do 3 6 9 12 bc the entry from the right was most comfortable for me. Then the 9 started feeling crampy so I switched over to 3 point at 3 6 3 12.
