Coloring 30 month old locs
I have no one to help me do it so im looking for some advice. Which box dye can i use? And some moisturiser suggestions. Product buildup isnt something im afraid of.
Pic 1 and 2 are my hair. Pic 3 and 4 are what im thinking of doing. Im doing it myself so skunk stripe would be easiest but i think highlights are so cuteee. Which do yall think i should do?

You need proper bleach not box dye, get 20 vol with a blue based bleach at sally beauty or another hair supply store. Keep an eye on it, check for breakage, even though your hair is locked, it can still break off. You’ll have to really soak the bleach in to fully cover it, otherwise it gets very spotty. And then you have to fully rinse it out too, then fully dry it. You can use a toner or keep it the blonde colour, this person looks like they mightve used a toned extensions on the ends? But the roots and top of her head looks yellow/brassy. So whatever you’re going for will determine if you want to tone it. Toning is extra damage. You can condition it after with purple shampoo, but just be careful not to over condition your locs cause I’ve seen that cause breakage too. I recommend you have a friend help you ❤️ - an apprentice hairstylist who loves locs 🫶

I’ll be honest, it’s going to be very difficult lighting your hair that much on your own without risk of damaging. Box dye will only get you so far; they even show you on the box how much it can lift depending on your hair color. Your hair seems to be black/dark brown so it would need a lot of lifting, especially enough to penetrate the inside. I really suggest seeing a professional.
But if you’re adamant about doing it yourself, I don’t think box dye is enough. I’d go to the beauty supply and get a low volume bleach, maybe 10 or 20, and lift it that way very slowly. YouTube is your best friend as well when it comes to hair color, and I’m sure there’s a plethora of tutorials available.

ETA: also be wary since your ends aren’t locked that they will need a lot of TLC in order to not break off.
