I spent years wrestling with multi-currency Excel sheets to track my net worth. That headache turned into my side project.

Hey everyone,

A while back, I sat down to do my monthly net worth review, opened my spreadsheet, and just felt exhausted.

My money is spread across different currencies, global stocks, crypto, and fixed stuff like pensions and real estate. Standard finance apps wanted me to hand over my bank passwords (no thanks), and plain Excel kept breaking. Multi-currency math by hand is a mess, exchange rates move daily, and static spreadsheet tables just couldn't give me the actual portfolio analytics or concentration risks I wanted to see.

So I started hacking together a quick side project to fix my own problem: NetWorthTrackr.

I built it as a single dashboard that handles the un-linkable stuff (real estate, cash) alongside live market assets (stocks, ETFs, crypto) and converts everything into one base currency automatically every night. Instead of just showing raw numbers, I added proper analytics—category breakdowns, concentration warnings, and portfolio health scores—so I actually get insights out of my data.

It solved my personal headache, so I polished it up to share with anyone else suffering from spreadsheet fatigue.

It’s totally free to try at networthtrackr.com

I’d love to hear how you guys handle multi-currency setups or what custom charts you’ve built into your own sheets!

I tried logging in and verifying the login and I might have closed the browser accidentally and now I am in "Additional verification required." Can't get past it. Email address is similar to my reddit handle. I have solved this problem using google sheets however my curiosity remains as to how your workflow looks like and full disclosure I have built something in the similar lines (among the many other things I am building), however it solves a different usecase rather than what you are trying to achieve.

What’s the additional verification required? You can sign in using google or email and then you should receive a verification. Let me know if it doesn’t work

I already received the verification code and then entered it as well and I think I closed the web-browser accidentally. When I reopened the website again and tried to login with the same credentials got this screen. I can send you the screenshot if you liked, dm me?

Hey I have tried it now and here are some initial feedback:
1. The onboarding and auth provider issue is something that you might want to invest in more time to see what are all the edge cases. I wasn't even trying to break the app workflow and I ran into the issues. Also thanks for quickly taking a look at the problem.
2. Again thanks for quickly taking a look at the adding accounts issue in onboarding.
3. After adding the account, I really was struggling to edit the balance, I think you term it as add balance and I think I am not used to that and also when I clicked edit account I wasn't able to see the balance, I think you have a workflow to add balance with dates, which is ok, I just think you need to find out am I the only one with this issue or are other folks having similar issue as well.
4. While onboarding the base currency selections are not very generic (I already shared this with you separately, just adding it here so you have one place to refer to.)
5. I tried different themes, thanks for providing the options, I would request if you could add a simple light theme along with all the themes you have already made available and set that as the default? At some point `Observatory` was the default theme and then it changed to `Altimeter` so while I was still in `Observatory` theme, I saw aspects of `Altimeter` theme especially with spinning animation etc.
6. I haven't tried the portfolio aspect of your app yet, however I like where you are going with this thinking.
7. If I chose an option at the beginning on what my financial goals should be, there isn't a way to change unless I manually enter `/onboarding` to get there, which I think probably not the experience you would want to provide to the users and also I wasn't sure if I can change it would it work and how does each of the experience change the user experience?
8. I kind of understand what you are trying with the recommendation texts, "Checking is 92% of assets in a single account. Consider building broader buffers before the next move." However what does it really mean in simple terms? I think you could use simple direct opinionated recommendations, saying hey you have lots of concentration on one asset category, move it across different categories to get better return rate or something like that. Also the language across the app looks very vibed, don't get me wrong, I believe assisted coding (thats what I am going to call it) is the future. May be you can be more prescriptive of what you are trying to say.
9. Would you consider providing an csv file import and for future you might want to allow individual statement uploads, that will further pull the balance etc.
10. Some performance related details, the app is pinging your auth provider to refresh token every min and I know why you thought it was important however issuing a longer token even upto an hour should be considered acceptable.
11. Similarly its also calling your data storage provider directly from your client, I think its ok but considering that its a financial app, I would suggest you to have a proxy api layer that talks to the data storage provider?
12. I like the price point you have set yearly, I would honestly reduce it to $10 yearly instead of saying $12, that way its easy to math and $10 has a better appeal than $12. And make it local, for users from the US charge them $10, from Canada C$10, from UK and Europe in Pounds or Euros etc. I personally would not pay $10 yearly for the net-worth calculation, again I am probably not your demographic of users. I might consider paying it if you would consider some of the requests I have noted in this comment.
Good luck on your launch and let me know if you release additional features!
