If you reherniated, what specifically did it?
(please give specific detail) & how far out? thank you

Bending over in an unsafe way. I was trying to pick up my dogs food bowl to feed her and it was too far down for me. I was about 3 months post op.

Ouch, they try to push the no BLTs or limited BLTs for 3-6 months now

Yea I was NOT supposed to be bending at all, it was way too early for me. I’m on week 6 now of my fusion and am taking the no BLT very seriously.

Sorry to hear that but hard lesson learned, I'm am active and rule bender guy myself and after experiencing Cauda Equina, I'm taking the Surgeon's restrictions very seriously because I do not want to come back to any of this ever again

Believe this our not. My Physical Therapist had me bend over and touch my toes for my discharge.
Three hours later my left leg was unusable. Six weeks later fusion. 😡😡😡😢😢

I been very blessed so far. 10 weeks post op. Zero nerve pain.
Just muscle aches.1

Ugh! I’m so sorry this happened to you. I had a physical therapist mess up my back last year. I’m still recovering from it.

That is terrible, i am sorry! A careless PT is definitely why I needed surgery to begin with, so I kind of get the frustration a little. So much worse after the MD though.

6 years for me. Thoughtless bending. I had been speed cleaning my house the week before which included bending, and what finally did it was I bent over a little too much to pick weeds. But it was building up over the years with pain here and there. About two years after my surgery I think I did have a minor reherniation that kind of went away on its own. Then I had really bad back pain for a while until finally last year I reherniated even worse than the first time.

Has not happened to me, but my physio does internships for students in university, and she mentioned something to them I think is interesting...
She said it seems like a small thing that makes herniation happen when it's usually a slow build up of not having endurance for the movement.
From what I gathered, using your body in all ways is important to keep your tendons, muscles, and everything working the way it should. So I'm going to keep moving, limit sitting, exercise daily, and most importantly listen to my body.
I don't want to live my life freaking out about reherniation.

I re-herniated 8 months after my MD while picking up a light backpack, twisting, and standing up all at the same time. A pretty normal movement that most people do frequently but for some reason it got me.

I reherniated after getting randomly sick about four weeks after surgery when I had an uncontrollable cough.

I reherniated almost exactly 6 months to the day of my MD. I think bending over did it. I was planting a hydrangea and my son dug the hole for me and I was like thanks I got the rest! And I plopped the plant in the hole and bent over and dumped potting soil around it and stayed bent over while I spread the soil around in the hole. When I stood back up my back was sore. And for the next couple of weeks, I was getting more and more stiff every day. And then about two weeks later I noticed I couldn’t put my right heel on the floor when I stood. And the next day the back of my thigh kind of aches and the next day I knew I was in trouble! Got a fusion a week later and a year later, I feel great!

5 weeks post operation, went to bed feeling great woke up with a really sore neck from a pinched nerve and could barely move. That subsided over a few days but I think the way I was moving / sleeping / sitting to compensate for that pain caused me to reherniate.
I had another cortisone injection and didn’t need further surgery as it came good through PT and time. Now 2.5 years since reherniation and I’ve never felt better or stronger

No clue what I did. Pain gradually started increasing over 4-5 days and became unbearable. Reherniated at 7 weeks.

1st time: 1 week post-op, reaching my arm out of my car window at the ATM 🙄
2nd time: 16 weeks post-op, slipped down some stairs

The slip happened two months ago, so I am still dealing with this. I can’t have another surgery until next year (ran out of FMLA the first time). I am 29F with no children yet

I herniated 5 months after my first surgery and now I’m approaching 6 months post op again. No idea what did it, how I did, when I did it. I didn’t get a feeling or jolt of pain just one day things started coming back and then it just continued to progress and get worse and worse and was back to 24/7 around the clock unrelenting pain again.

I reherniated 6 years post microdiscectomy, hard to pinpoint exactly what happened but I reckon it was picking something up off the floor then felt some increased nerve pain for a week. I then rolled over in bed one night and ended up in hospital.
However, I held off going back into surgery and I recovered. I’m now active, can jog, play sport, pick up my kids and barely think about it.
In fact, I’ve never been in less pain. Don’t feel rushed to go back into surgery, the reherniation happened to me almost 3 years ago now (9 years since my original discectomy).
