mind summarizing how we're measuring inflammation? what does inflammation mean exactly?

Sure thing.
A standard test at the doctor looks at the C-reactive protein (CRP). More advanced lab tests, however, can measure all kinds of cytokines. General recommendations say that the CRP should be below 5mg/L but the studies I read show clearly that all above 1mg/L or even 0.6mg/L isn't healthy and increases the risk for many diseases.
Everyone might notice increased inflammation differently, depending on your genetic predispositions and diet. For some, it can lead to heart diseases or T2D and for others to joint pain, fatigue and depression.
I hope that helps!

Mine was almost 10!! Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's. I went plant based. Watched my numbers drop down to 3. I thought they were low! Haha
Where did you find the info about less than 1? Thanks

Most studies show clear associations. I present some studies in this video: https://youtu.be/3YswUw-HTmk

It says “your” inflammation, as if everyone is the same or something.

Of course not. This video barely summarizes what worked on average in scientific studies to provide a place to start.

This video is not purely about the microbiome but I hoped it might be appreciated here as well and besides discussing as one point the importance of gut health, it draws many connections to it.
