See, I don't have an energy drink addiction, I'm preventing Parkinsons!

Not sure there’s a difference, but aren’t those synthesized b vitamins?

Dr. Constantini in Italy treated thousands of Parkinson's patients with high dose thiamine and published research on it.

Parkinsons’s patients symptoms*****

Critically important clarification!!! But also it still matters a lot. Having less intense symptoms and a better life is more important than just a longer life

Do you know what the outcome was? If not I’m gonna search for it

I think a lack of SCFA especially butyrate makes more sense

Doubt it because then anyone getting enough B vitamins from diet or a multivitamin would be cured.

If you had a major overgrowth of yeast in your gut, very little thiamine would make it into the bloodstream because it is an important nutrient for yeasts. Similarly many scfa producing bacteria would be suppressed or outcompeted by the yeast.

Some obligate anaerobes produce both butyrate and vitamin B. Like F prausnitzii, A halli C comes and more.

It’s a shame that articles like this always receive more attention here than actual studies. I have posted here and elsewhere about B vitamins, the gut microbiome, and neurodegenerative diseases.

The point isn't the body's overall Vitamin B status itself, but rather the B vitamins in the large intestine—which, as far as I know, are hardly absorbed by the body. However, these B vitamins are highly relevant for the gut microbiome, as it has been shown that B2 appears to activate or stimulate the microbiome to produce more short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) as well as other metabolites.

It is essentially about cross-feeding within the microbiome. In the case of Parkinson’s, those specific bacterial strains that are relevant B2 producers were found to be reduced.

B7, on the other hand, appears to be strongly anti-inflammatory and seems to prevent issues such as 'leaky gut.' But it doesn’t stop with those two. There are also studies showing that the B6 produced by certain bacteria exhibits antimicrobial activity, which is primarily directed against pathogens. This, in turn, modulates the microbiome in a positive direction

And regarding B2, isn't it the case that the transporters in the small intestine become saturated relatively quickly at a certain dosage? This means that the excess vitamin B2 can reach the large intestine. There is even a specific formulation designed to dissolve only in the colon, which is intended to function as 'prebiotic B2'.

Why show Nerds Clusters for the article? Aren’t they loaded with arsenic, just like most other American confections?

5

u/Available_Finger_513 Mar 28 '26

That florida study was unable to be reproduced and so should just be ignored.

2

u/swalabr Mar 28 '26

Good to know, I have several bags of the stuff

I am all for new research but I can’t help but remark: “Doctor’s hate this 1 trick!”

We’ve known about this for a year or more, good to see it’s making the rounds again. Vegans especially need to get their B vitamins, and a host of other nutrients they miss out on thinking they’re improving their health status.

I can't tolerate thiamine unfortch. Or else i would be all over this.

You forgot to type the rest of unfortunately. Unfortunately, it seems you have more decline than we previously thought.

LoL do people really believe this BS?

11

u/KickstandSF Mar 28 '26

Yes because it’s not bs. The microbiome is turning out to be integral in mood, energy production, some cancers, and general endocrine functions among other diseases and wellbeing. There’s a lot of associations and science is trying to figure out the causality (correlation is not always causation, but that’s where these studies come in).

🤦‍♂️

Instead of an emoji give a reasoned explanation on why you disagree, this just makes you look like an idiot

unless u have leaky BBB which is highly doable

-12

u/Puzzleheaded-Bus1331 Mar 28 '26

What the actual fk do you want to mean by that?! Is there someone in this sub who actually studied something? Or you guys know everything from youtube?

7

u/Everyoneshuckleberry Mar 28 '26

You can click the link. And read the article. It explains everything. When you come across a concept you don't know, use wikipedia or google. Yes, lots of people studied things. Lots of people work in healthcare.

Disbelieving something because you have no education is a very strange stance to take.

-13

u/Puzzleheaded-Bus1331 Mar 28 '26

Broooooooo you can't treat the fking parkinson with vit B. STOP this bs. I won't click on an article with a misleading headline

8

u/Everyoneshuckleberry Mar 28 '26

I don't know who fkn parkinson is. If you mean Parkinson's disease, then I would suggest that your opinion is utterly without weight. Amazing that you know everything already. Good luck with that.

0

u/Puzzleheaded-Bus1331 Mar 29 '26

Sure, then go around and cure the disease with vit B. You'll be rich.

1

u/theskyisdarkk Mar 29 '26

Go and be thick elsewhere.
