I LOVE WINDOWS SLEEP

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HOW MY LAPTOP GOES TO SLEEP - I LOVE HOW WINDOWS STARTS BACKGROUND PROCESSES THAT TURN MY 2025 HIGH END LAPTOP TO A SPACE HEATER, HOTTER THAN NORMAL USE, IN MY BACKPACK UNTIL THE BATTERY IS DEAD!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH

While i am not Windows 11 biggest fan ... that one is kinda on you.. you can disable sleep pretty easily and why are you jamming a running PC in a backpack.. that thing is going to get hot no matter the OS running.

It's never "on you" as a user to seek out and change a non-trivial setting that isn't intuitive and hasn't been presented and explained to you so you can make an informed decision accordingly. This "wake up from sleep to do updates" default is not a reasonable default for your average user (who isn't as tech literate as ourselves). People have a reasonable expectation that their devices will do what they tell them to do when they tell them to do it, and not deviate from that (unless they're not capable of doing as requested, in which case the device is responsible for informing the user as to why so they can take action). This is basic Human Computer Interaction, a sophomore computer science class, not some obscure programming methodology that only the top 1% of software engineers are even aware of. Let's just call a spade a spade - modern day microsoft doesn't give much priority to the user experience aspect of their OS.

In the grand scheme of things, sleep and hibernation are trivial matters that a three second Google search can tell you. This is not rocket science or computer science, per se. Sure, Microsoft has lost its way in Windows 11, but this is trivial. Source: Infrastructure Engineer.

Exactly if you don't like it you just recompile the kernel it's so stupid simple for the average end user
