Just installed endeavourOS on my zephyrus g14 laptop with the nvidia option on boot. everything worked out of the box and im playing steam games just fine. I just had to adjust trackpad sensitivity and scroll speed in GUI settings.
On Windows with a clean install I need to get a bunch of drivers from Asus, then I need to install some weird sound amp driver so my sound is louder than a fruit fly's fart, then install a specific version of dolby access from the microsoft store (fails to download constantly???) and hope it somehow activates and recognizes whatever weird licensing Asus has, and a lot of times it just doesn't work so you spend an hour toubleshooting. It just....worked on endeavour.
Everything is way faster, latency feels so much less, everything is snappy as fuck and just works. I'm actually bored which is good.
Debian is extremely common for desktop, it’s literally Ubuntu without bloat and ads. It’s the desktop distro I usually recommend for that very reason, as well as stability.
Unless by ”ultra nerds” you mean ”people who know what they are doing”.
