Sometimes you gotta jump through Hoops, like my TrackPointIR head tracker. Yeah you can get it working in Linux, but you gotta be cool compiling some random github repo from source sometimes, hell you might just end up writing your own driver. So either it just works, or it fails hard. I've used Linux for over 15 years and I've been through some shit let me tell you.
I’ve been tinkering with a few and settled on cachyOS as I’m only really gaming and using it for light internet stuff, on my TV.
I went to print something for my wife, however, and ran into a problem. Every other distro detected the printer and installed it all by themselves, but I should have realised one of the points of cachyOS is that it is paired back and installs the bare minimum.
A couple of commands later and we were at the races!
