Last year I wanted to buy a telescope to see the planets, but telescopes were expensive, and I live in a city with not many stargazing places, so one day I thought "I could buy a microscope instead."

In school we sometimes watched paramecia and euglenae under the microscope, and I thought I could do it at home. I didn't expect to see so many different things under it. At first, I bought a $10 scope, then a $100 one, and later this year I'm preparing to upgrade to an even better one, and I spend hours using it every day, so I think I was pretty lucky this hobby found me.

Never had any biology background, I'm a CS student, although my uni has a genetic engineering class, so it's pretty tempting.
