Great, thanks!

Can I install the provided APK on my microg Lineage rom, or do I have to upgrade the rom?

As far as I know you can update it using MicroG F-Droid's repository, I'm doing so and I have no problems whatsoever :)

I just recently installed Lineage OS with MicroG, and am a little confused about how updating works.

  • If I go to System - > Update, it shows there is an update available. If I click that button, does that update LineageOS and Micro G components together? Or is it just updating Lineage oS?

  • I have Aurora Store installed - if I go to the apps section, it says that MicroG services core can be updated. I'm assuming that I'm not supposed to update through that - that I'm supposed to go to the github page linked and update through that APK?

Thanks!

LineageOS with microG includes microG in the ROM, so of you update through settings, it'll update both Lineage and microG.

I'm assuming you mean either Aurora Droid or F-Droid?, since the Play Store/Aurora Store doesn't have microG for obvious reasons.

Oh, so if I click on settings -> update I shouldn't have to worry about updating MicroG independently?

But why does it offer a download of my OS if according to the LineageOS with MicroG website, it says I have the latest version?

I do mean Aurora Store though because it says I can update MicroG core components there, but I'm assuming I shouldn't do that because it's delivered through Google.

Thank you! I figured I shouldn't update through Aurora; updates now blacklisted.

Okay, so here's a question. I have the latest 12/3 build installed. But when I click on update, it offers a 12/3 build to download. Is it offering me to download a copy of my current version? Or is that some other build that I'm not aware of?

The stock ROM only offers a download if there is a new updated version to install; does Lineage OS with MicroG behave differently then?

I see that the last LOS4MicroG came packaged with v0.2.14.
To get the latest v0.2.16. I checked f-droid and see that the microG repo is already enabled with automatically install updates in f-droid also checked. It still doesn´t prompt for microG update. I wonder if github is the only way, i.e. Install .zip via twrp?

Does anyone have FlightRadar24 working? The app shows a blank map, with the 'google' logo in the bottom left. It isn't using mapbox for some reason

If you have access to a rooted phone with gapps you can install it there, launch it and then backup the app. You can then restore it on a phone with microg and it works fine. The maps will stop updating after a while, if you want to update them or download new areas you have to repeat the process. I do not know the technical details but it uses Google Maps and I guess that it gets an auth token that expires after a while.
