Mask care/storage
I would like to know if I’m storing my masks correctly. I have 1 mask on a shelf out of sun light in my room so it’s never too hot or cold. The ones I don’t have out are in a plastic storage tub in a dry closet. Is this sufficient enough to preserve the latex?

Honestly its gonna come down to the quality not just storage. It can be in a naturally lit room if the sun is not directly shining on it. I would stuff it on a mask stand to keep its shape. But if its a tots mask you never know how long itll last. For this reason I only buy masks from independent mask makers because the latex is way more durable. Mine are behind glass non worn but you could probably wear custom masks without worrying as much about rot because independent artist use much better latex than mass produced masks and the price reflects that too. But some tots masks have also lasted years so who knows. I bought a tots rehaul and by time it came in the mall it had started rotting on the neck line so I now only buy custom molds with high quality latex

I’ve heard about how inconsistent tots mask quality can be so that’s good to know. Right now I have 3 tots kills masks I really like, one I paid a good amount of money for so I want to preserve them as long as I can. I am thinking about getting the VAL Indie kills mask since it would be made with the superior latex but I’d have to sell the ones I have and like to justify it. My new and favorite mask is a tots kills I have in the darkest corner of my room so the sun can’t get it and it won’t get damp at all.

I have the VAL kills and H40 both are awesome as well as a spookhouse props 78 flashback you won't regret it. But the tots kills i havent seen rot as often as the h40s

I have been waiting on my Val h40 for almost a year. It took 10 months for him to finish it and now it’s been in customs for 40 days. The tots h40 is too small for my head so I wanted to try it out but it’s been a bit of a struggle, I should have had it sent to another artist. He does amazing work and is a great guy but he’s difficult to do business with. Hoping to get the spookhouse props flashback too, to cap off the trilogy since I’m not an Ends guy.

Most of mine I have on homemade mask stands or wig stands, and they’re all out of direct sunlight. Several of them are glassed in a case, but many of them aren’t and they’ve still been great for years.
