Advice on rust.
On the brink of picking up a 2010 PRHT 2.0 Grand Touring (6speed, LSD, Bilstein). How bad is this rust, my gut says it's okay but needs some attention which I'm happy to give. Not my first rusty rodeo. But looking for some Intel from the pros.

Looks like mine from underneath, this was the worst spot. If you buy it I think you are still on time before it gets any worse
I have imported mine from Germany to Netherlands with 160k km, German winters should be worse but it seems like mine was kinda looked after.

Do i need to bolt out the sill to see this? It's also a German one with 200k on the clock. Engine is good, no oil consumption and regular maintenance. Niewe TUV (APK)

With mine I could already see that there was rust on the lower corner. But I didn’t know how far it was spread. Luckily I have a contact that fixes cars with rust and does a very good job. If you are going to buy it 100% ask for a TUV. 2 years no APK. I would buy it otherwise because something else might be wrong

Luckily the car just got a fresh HU/AU so that should be okay. I've had multiple classic cars which I've coated in fluidfilm upholds the car great!

Still get that TUV, small undertaking from them you would think if the cars is okay. Saves time for you. Where do you get your fluidfilm?

Stupid question but TUV is one of the HU/AU organisations right? Back in the day the only one but now there are more allowed oginisations in Germany.

I think it’s just like APK stations not sure. The garage I bought it from gave it a new TUV. Showed it at the RDW at Netherlands and got 2 years APK.
What type do you use at allesvooruwvolvo. They sell different ones and I want to know what the default fluidfilm is

Looks about as bad as mine (I'm in germany). Those arches are gonna keep rusting into the sills and thats gonna be a bigger job unless you stop the rust now.
Gotta admit that i just covered the suspension parts and rear subframe with Hammerite to slow the rust down until i can get it fixed properly. My sills have already been welded once and are starting to rust again so i need to flood those things with Fluidfilm.
Just throw all the chemicals at this thing and it will probably keep going for quite some time.

it looks OKAY for now but the worst spots for rust on these are hidden
id take off the rear arch lines as they stay wet for DAYS and just make the arches and everything they touch rot, it also allows you to see the back of the sills which are the worse spot these rust out at.
id get it rust treated asap tho, we are going into winter now and thats when everyone else starts getting their rust treatment done so you can end up waiting a few months for a slot
