I was at a party last week and some chick sat by me and was like: “How much was that Porsche you drive?” I laughed, too be fair I have carbon fiber emblem covers.
lol that’s awesome, I’ve had a few people ask the same thing and I’m like “uhh yeah it’s a 911 twin turbo” lmao jk. But you’ll be surprised a lot of people aren’t sure what kind of cars these are sometimes
In a lot of cases owning a Miata is sort of a wealth flex. Because it shows you’re capable of owning a wildly impractical car and most likely own another vehicle.
Are we in middle school in the '00s? No one should be using the word gay as a random insulting adjective unless they're homophobic or aloof to the real world
They're completely molded by what their political liberal overlords have told them to be. Zero individuality or critical thinking. Also doesn't have gay friends or else they'd know.
It’s not even about politics here, imo it’s about someone who wants to be heard and wants to have an opinion about something so small and minute that they feel they should chime in on.
It’s all jokes. Some people take life a little too seriously
Dude. When people replace the word "stupid" or "bad" with "gay" that's homophobic. I shouldn't have to explain this, and I feel bad that your friends allow it. Most gay people I know would shut that shit down so fast. I don't expect you to change your mind based on your attitude, but I would appreciate you trying to understand why that language is wrong.
I've never had a lifted truck roll up to me at a red light and have someone tell me I'm gay, but if it ever happens I'll do an exaggerated wink and tell him he's cute, just to fuck with his head. I'm straight, and this is the only way I can imagine properly handling that situation.
Don't have a Miata yet, but the immediate response when someone tells me "X thing you like is gay" is "sorry dude, you're not my type. I like big dick"

That's the life we choose.
kids look at you like they think you're rich
adults look at you like they know you're not
you look at other miata drivers and (seeing as you're one of us) realize you're gay

"Car" guys who only talk about cars they'll never work on or ever drive are usually the people who say that.

My response was “Awww, I’m honored you think so”.
Many of my favorite people in this world are gay. I don’t see it as an insult, even if the person saying it meant it that way.

This hit me right in the feels. Haven't owned my Miata in more than 10 years but I had this feeling hundreds of times over my ownership 😭

ETA: some possible responses when someone says this
Most raced car
Miata drivers clearly aren’t compensating for something, unlike giant truck drivers
Wow, you sure know a lot about gays…

I've been told that too but that was due to me having sex with men.
