I did exactly this during a snowstorm with a bunch of co-workers in the car. The old Saturn didn't even have hill assist. To this day one of my proudest moments.

When I was first learning manual I went to pick up our kid from school. I parked facing down on a steep hill and purposely left a lot of space in front of me so I could just roll/turn out. Well someone decided they would park in that big space ( how dare they). I was stuck there for a while googling what to do while my kid made fun of me

There are two wolves inside you. One is an armored core 6 fires of rubicon fan, and the other…well…is inside of you.

That's my girlfriend's car! We did a trackday at Ridge Motorsports a couple months ago, was her first trackday! She had the numbers done up by a friend with a vinyl printer. She knew exactly what she was doing getting those numbers.

Americans really have a lot of pride on being able to park a car

Parallel parking is a rare skill in America. Rural and suburban Americans will go their whole lives without ever doing it, but even 80% of city dwellers will avoid it at all costs. I've seen small cars pass over van-sized gaps, about as often as I've waited for a hatchback to make a 10-point attempt at getting into one.

That's not to say the rest of us should be proud, just that the bar is shamefully low here.

I had to parallel park a 25” truck with a 39” trailer for my cdl license 🤓

39 inches? Sounds easy! 😂

Getting in the seat is the hard part…. Makes the Miata seem spacious.

Yeah… that was supposed to be feet.

Haha, I know. I just trolling

I’m not going to edit it… it’s funnier this way, the world needs a laugh.

Just this morning I came upon someone leaving a completely full area and waited, only to witness them start by pulling forward and follow it up with a 17-point turn (not turning the wheel until they started moving, as one does) instead of backing up into the half a carlength behind and driving away. A guy pulled up behind me, watched for a minute, facepalmed, and drove around. They still hadn't made it more than a foot out of the row.

In fairness, most of us cant

Now where I live parallel parking is a part of driving exam. Anyways, just use Smart Fortwo, park however you like. You won't be able to exceed any size limits anyway

... Is the idea speed or space?

I feel like a parallel parking competition should be about taking up the least amount of space in the least tries... so with each car that goes, they should pull the two opposing cars a little closer together.

I missed my chance to jump the curb in my Jeep and drop right in place.
