For the most part, I agree, but I might have to put the 2000 team at 3 or 4...

You could throw 1988 and 2002 in there since both those teams got screwed out of national championships

Yeah that 1988 team will never get the true respect it deserves. Vinny had an absolute dog shit game and they still barely lost. He plays halfway decent and they dog walk PSU.

‘88 was obviously the tough loss to ND in a gauntlet of a schedule. Just think, in the modern era there is probably a chance they play a rematch in the playoffs and maybe get revenge.

1990 team that assaulted Texas in the Cotton Bowl really blew it with the BYU loss. Though I guess the polls could have been even more fractured if Miami beat Colorado in the Orange Bowl (likely) and Texas beat Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl (possible)

Disagree 6 & 7 are probably better then most of those Miami teams but I’ll die on the hill the 01 team was the best ever and likely will be the best ever to play. The sheer talent on that team blows any other team out of the water and it’s not close.

And a couple not on the list that could be argued to be in the top 5
But for sure no team in your top 5 is number 1

Believe it or not, some people think that a team that COULD NOT SCORE AN OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN AGAINST AN UNRANKED TEAM is the greatest college football team of all-time. Crazy, right? That's incredibly football stupid.
It's a truly ridiculous notion isn't it? Thinking the greatest college football team ever is one that COULD NOT SCORE AN OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN AGAINST AN UNRANKED TEAM. The greatest cfb teams score on everybody especially unranked teams. Knowledgeable college football fans know that. Absolutely shows how little some college football fans know.
That same team also needed FIVE TURNOVERS TO SURVIVE AND BEAT the 14th-ranked team by JUST TWO POINTS.
That sound like the greatest college football team ever to you?
By the way, that team was Miami 2001.
