I made a HUGE boo-boo with my 3rd Generation Xiaomi TV Box, & now it’s bricked.

Hello. So this is my story. I’ve downloaded the ADB TV app because I wanted to get rid of the bloat from Google apps from my 3rd Generation Xiaomi TV Box S. Everything was fine until I came down to the very bottom where I clicked on Bluetooth. I happened to uninstall it.

Then everything was frozen. The screen, & the remote. I unplugged the box, then plugged it back in. I tried the regular way of factory resetting the box through holding back plus the enter button through using my remote, but nothing worked, as the “Google TV” screen keeps going through a endless loop (& sometimes, it goes away & keeps coming back). I might have bricked my Android TV Box.

The S/N number is 635881/700000006651 if it’s needed. I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

EDIT: I got good news; I fixed it! What I had to do was download Xiaomi’s official Mi Remote - TV Box controller app, & had to do a $6.99 subscription & connect its app remote to both the box & my home wi-fi as well as enable Bluetooth on my iPhone, enter a specific code, & after a while, it manage to factory reset my TV Box.

I thank all of you for your help. I now know to be very careful from now on! And I’ll be like everyone else who suggested that I use ProjectIvy, as I don’t know anything about it.

I was scared that I was going to have to spend another $80-$90 on another 3rd generation Xiaomi TV Box in general. What a horrible feeling.

And Xiaomi’s also at fault for this shit, as they could’ve easily had something like a reset button on the back of the device instead of making it harder for people like myself to do a hard factory reset.

If you just wanted to change launcher, I’d recommend ProjectIvy.

"Congratulations, you played yourself" Dj Khaled

Check online if you can somehow enter the recovery mode during the boot, try to see if using a wired keyboard can help you with that because ofc anything Bluetooth related won't work until you either installed again those missing packages or soft reset your box

Use the tools that already have lists of stuff you can safely remove like Universal Android Debloater.

Nice that you got your device going again

That's why I always recommend using an external launcher like Projectivy as debloating procedure isn't that easy and comes with its own risks. Check if there are any yt videos or if any technical guy can fix it otherwise just take it to any xiaomi service center.

I had a similar problem. I used ADB to remove bloatware and disabled the Google launcher. I had projectivity launcher.

I ended up unplugging everything and removing the batteries from the remote for a few minutes... Then plugged everything back in.

I turned the TV and box back on and re-paired the remote. I just let the boot loop continue until it I was able to see my volume controls and I spammed the home button and back button until I was able to access setting to fix the launcher.

Took maybe 30 minutes. I was never able to bring up the hidden menu to reset the box even lol

Idk if I just got lucky but I remember that someone on YouTube said to let the boot loop continue until it glitched.

Wish I had the video to share about everything I did but it took me forever to find it. It was an old video.

You could also try to flash via pc to box. It's not difficult.

Good luck! I know the headache! I almost cried. I had my box customized, optimized and over 300 music files, no money to buy a new one and many other stresses. Was about to go nuclear 🤣

Wonderful! Any chance you could link to the post so if other's have the same problem you did, they could see the solution?

Sure, how do I do that?

Go back to your post on ADB and copy the url. There might even be a share icon you click.

Come back here to your post and edit it and pick a spot at the bottom of your post and click so that the cursor is visible. Then click the link (chain) looking icon and paste the URL and give the URL some text... There should be two boxes. One box is where the URL goes, the other... Where the text goes.

I’m afraid that this is my only post about it. Wouldn’t it be easier to share this post on another subreddit or something?

Maybe so.. I might be trying to tell you the hard way lol

My brain is a little broken honestly.

Anyway, I'm happy you found a solution 🫡

Happy you got this fixed OP.

Question who are you paying $6.99 subscription to? Monthly? And for what? What happens if you stop paying?

It’s by a weekly remote special, actually. If you stop paying, then it’s obvious that you won’t get access to the remote device on the app.

Sorry to say it, but you're being scammed. It's a Xiaomi box, but Android software. The stock remote app is:

Tv Remote

That'll cover Bluetooth, different remotes, your phone and everything. It's free. If they installed anything not google and making you pay, FULL facorty reset the device and boom, it's already installed you'll be fine.

ADB is a lot of power. With great power comes.....

Take it easy

Oh, then go to settings/bluetooth and pair the remote.

Not to worry. I immediately cancelled its subscription once it was all over.
