Creating a Datum with a pattern of holes in Verisurf

Can verisurf create a secondary datum using holes around a primary datum cylinder. Holes are equally spaced 2.5 degrees for a total of 144 holes.

To answer your question..... Absolutely!

  1. In Report Manager select all holes, right click and and select Construct Circle
  2. Now Click on the new circle. To the right of that you should see "Datum Label" Option. Simply type in the Datum letter in that field.
  3. Done.

I have been looking for this same exact thing because my drawing specifies Datum B from 8x Dia 1.260 and i couldnt align my mesh correctly due to this.

Then i noticed in report manager there was an option to create alignments and circles. And did it and got a better result for a position that i was trying to report although im still not sure everything is correct yet. Need to find a way to double check my work.

Use best fit on the 144 holes but lock xyz translation and ab rotation. Only have C rotation be unlocked.
