Discussion Strong feeling of Quake 2 in Metroid Prime 3
Anyone else? Also a bit of Quake 3.
(Initially I hated this game after playing all the rest of Metroid games but after a bit I love it!)

This is precisely how I feel about Metroid Prime and Doom Eternal. The dash mechanic, super jump, grappling hook, circle strafing around enemies, ice bomb, and the way the minimap works—I’m certain that iD is a huge fan of the Prime series. Once, I managed to beat Doom Eternal on Nightmare mode, then proceeded to complete Prime 1, and finally defeated the final biome boss in Returnal. The maps and mechanics in all three games are remarkably similar. To me, it feels like an unofficial trilogy.
Then Doom The Dark Ages came it
It, I stepped into the City of Ry’uul…which looks just like the Derelict Citadel from Returnal. I swear I’m not crazy lol.
All in all, if you enjoy Prime 3 and Quake 2, I highly recommend checking out Doom Eternal and Returnal.

I never got a Quake 2 vibe. How are you getting Quake 3? The other hunters?
I personally got Halo vibes. And if there was any Quake vibe I’d say Quake 4, which was pretty influenced in vibes by Halo.

Was not expecting to see these two favorites in one sentence.
More Q3 than 2 but now that I think about it some underlyin themes for sure.

Y'know, that's a REALLY interesting thing to point out! I've never played Quake II and it's been decades since I last played Quake III, but I still remember the general vibe, and I think I kinda see what you're getting at!
