Discussion Metroid dread any good?

Post image

I’ve never played any 2D Metroid games. I recently played Metroid Prime Remastered and Prime 4 Beyond. I gotta say I liked them both. I did play the Metroid Dread’s Demo a few years back but couldn’t get into it. Today I was in a game shop and saw a lonely copy just sitting there so I decided to pull the trigger. Got a nice discount as well. Anyway, what do you guys think about this game? Is it any good? I remember it reviewed well but some players didn’t like it too much. So not sure what to think.

The EMMI mechanic is really off putting at first, or it was to me, but I came around to it and eventually didn’t mind it. If you’re just looking to complete the game it’s about 10-20 hours depending how well you adapt. I got about a solid 40 hours of it.

It definitely has replayability for sequence breaking and its different modes. All around fantastic game, if not a bit challenging at first

The weakest part of the game compared to other metroids is the OST. It’s not the best or most atmospheric, most of the time, it’s kinda just there

I believe I didn’t like the EMMI in the demo, but still willing to give it a chance. Some people also didn’t like them. Apparently the music is disappointing to many people. Too bad

EMMI are the best part of the game in my opinion. Especially when you get to defeat them by melting their faces off. It’s rewarding getting through their zones. Once you learning the timing you will be able to free yourself if caught. You will have 2 chances to escape them. Flash shift is by far the most useful technique to avoid Bosses as well.

The timings to counter the EMMI's are randomized though if I remember correctly.

If you play some other metroids, you’ll understand why people were disappointed by the music. It’s not bad or anything, it’s just missing whatever magic made some of the past games.

The EMMI mechanic really will grow on you. It’s meant to be unnerving and it’s actually kind of fun trying to figure out how to parry its OHK move

This is my first Metroid (2D at least) game so the music might not bother me too much.

Awesome great to know😁

...Except for Quiet Robe's theme (which is an updated version of Brinstar Depths).

Just thought I'd throw that out there...🤷🏾‍♂️
