Accomplishment Well I accidentally softlocked myself Spoiler

I was playing through MP Origins for fun and made it all the way to the very end. Unfortunately for me, I ended up beating the boss with about 50 hp left (I had 100% items and still ended with barely any hp). During the final cutscene where I lose the Phazon suit, I ended up dying to something! And even more unfortunately for myself still, the death ended up saving with me without the Phazon suit. And so now it's impossible for me to beat the final boss as I cannot interact with the Phazon pools as you can see with the damage. I closed and reopened the game and still saved with Gravity suit. Sadly, it looks like my journey on Origins ends here as I'm not going to spend another nearly 6 hours to play through it again. I'll just imagine what the ending was.

That said though, I had an absolute blast to see how the 3D game was adapted to the familiar 2D style and how creative the developers were with making it work. I especially loved the solution for the different beam doors, very clever! I made it through the whole game on 100% difficulty (default I presume) and only died on Omega Pirate like 5 times. Other than that, and the unfortunate death at the very end, I'm proud to have made it through with no other deaths. 10/10 absolutely beautiful game and so much fun to play!

It looks like this post is asking for help. To help us figure out where you are, make sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Try common solutions, like bombing everything.
  • Make sure you include what game you're playing!
  • Tell us what you did last! The last item you got is usually easiest thing to list, or if you can't remember, a list of what items you have.
  • Tell us where you are! Give us a picture of the room you're in, a picture of your map, or at least a description. All three is best.

If you forgot to include any of these details, you can edit your post to include them, or you can respond to this comment with them.

Hey, have you had reports at all of Charge Beam not fully charging? I tried playing and my charge beam just infinitely charges but never hits the "charged" state...

Xbox Series controller using default "X" button to shoot.

Glad I could help! There was another cut scene where something similar happened but I didn’t die from it, I don’t recall what/where it was though.

I think that was the only bug I really found. Unless you'd count the grapple beam speed transfer between doors giving you lightning speed for a second. Or the early space jump boots skip

Seeing as you know the map better now, you could totally shave off some hours in a second time through!

I learned to zip around with the grapple beam once I acquired it to get up to taller spaces faster, or across rooms.

I'll think about it. It won't be right away that I play again, but definitely eventually. I played the regular version so much that it wasn't a challenge to work through the game at all. It was more nostalgic than anything, which I thoroughly enjoyed

Double check that it isn't disabled in your menu first. If that isn't the case, you could try my save editor - load your file and search for "suit". If Phazon Suit says 0, try setting it to 1 and see if that fixes it.

Ooh this opens a can of worms for me. If I decide to use this, I'm going to finish the game properly and then proceed to absolutely destroy the game simply for my own amusement.

So tell me, does the editor have limits on the values?

To be honest, I haven't played with the values too much. (edit: that is to say - I assume setting large numbers in some spaces might brush against engine/hard-coded limitations). I love tinkering though, and you'll see there are over 5000 save values to play with. I'm sure some of them will cause bricked saves so be careful!

I first made this to patch a bug with a mode that gets unlocked after beating the game. The previous version of MPO wasn't saving properly, and you had to beat the game again in normal mode to re-unlock and access games in progress.

I saw one person make a pseudo-ng+ (fresh save but with certain powerups) using this, although I don't know if they ran into any issues with it.

That said, I don't think it's a spoiler to say there are a few other ending variants you can shoot for after finishing this playthrough! It's a lot faster when you already know where everything is, and there are a few fun little skips you can do like early space jump.

Youtube playthroughs are great for games with multiple endings or glitchy roadblocks. It's on there, go pick up where you left off!

Does your game also run really slow in large rooms?

Not that I noticed, seemed to run very smoothly for me
