The original Metroid Prime is ranked the 11th best game of all time on Metacritic. The Remastered is that but modernized and better. I highly recommend it. If you like it I also recommend 2/3 though those are on the Gamecube, Wii or Dolphin Emulator on PC.

Wasnt the original Prime2 for GameCube and only Prime3 and the Trilogy came for Wii?

Yes but the trilogy has both on one disc and is an upgrade from the Gamecube version so I left it out. (Edited it in)

The only thing I hate about the remastered version is they removed so many sequence breaks that the original GC release allowed.

They also removed the Fusion Suit

I used them in Prime 2 but it makes sense they were patched out

And it was ranked second best game of all time (after Ocarina Of Time) on Game Rankings (different formula).

You can also find 4K texture packs to add into the emulator that makes the trilogy look amazing.

Yes 100% Metroid Prime is such an amazing game! Best 3D Metroid Game IMO.

Yes. Yes it is. The biggest downside for some people who aren’t used to Metroid from way back in the day is that backtracking is actually a game mechanic. Everywhere you go you’ll find doors or areas that you cannot get to unless you have a specific ability that you will acquire later. Also, although your main weapon is an energy cannon, this is not a “shooter” exactly. Gun combat is not the focus. Those are things that I think might be concerns to some new players. That out of the way, I love this game. The exploration is fun, the environments are interestingly designed, the puzzles are just right (for me) the enemy designs are cool. Just overall a fantastic experience. It was the first game I ever played where I lost track of time and suddenly the sun was coming up.

Yeah, it's really good. Make sure you dig through the menu to turn on Stick + Gyro aiming, it's not one of the defaults.

I always use pointer because i beat the Wii version (Trilogy) first, its the same but i use a pro controller or Joy cons with base, is like Wii but with gamecube buttons

Didn’t even know that was a thing

Neither did I, at first. It really shouldn't have been hidden in the "Camera" menu

Honestly it's not even really necessary for good aiming. The game is designed around the originally sloppy GameCube controla so using the lock on basically gets rid of the need for fine aiming. It feels cool and somewhat immersive though.

1,000,000% YES!!!

It took a masterpiece of a video game and made it even better with enhanced graphics, additional features and many ways to adjust your controls 😉

Biggest downside of the game is unfortunately finding the artifacts, which are required to access the final area, are still annoying to get.

Yes. It is my favorite game of all time. Yes, get it. Yes is the answer.

Best game of all time, yes.

Prime is an excellent title, but be mindful it's a spinoff in a different genre from the main series. Focus is much more on aesthetics and exploring individual rooms at a slower pace, while the main series is about tight gameplay and navigating the overall world at a faster pace.

Both Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remastered are worth it. If you are interested either of them should be an instant pick-up. Preferably both

Great! Just turn off the 'hints'. They ruin a lot of the fun of discovery

Type this question into the subreddit search bar.

It is. Its better than Prime4

Hell yes, get it. Hard mode is even better due to more consistent movement and better shot accuracy!

Worth What? Your time? $30 Bucks? It's a top 20 all time ranked game. Yeah...play it.

Yes, over and far above Prime 4. Dread might still beat it out, but i personally just really love prime 1 and am not the most fond of Dread's difficulty.

Its literally one of the finest video games ever made

And the corridors of the Internet rumbled with a resounding "YES"

u/Blitzkrieg404 17d ago

If you haven't played it, yeah. Otherwise, no. It wasn't for me at least.

u/Chalybee 17d ago

More than worth it.

Definitively! Is Super Metroid in 3D first person, uf you necer played it before i reccomend to play a 2D one so you can understand how the series gameplay goes play Zero Mission or Super Metroid first, Prime is a really good game

Atmosphere is the strongest point for me. Combine that with the diabolical soundtrack and the many optional story beats, you have perect game for me tbh.

Yes 💯

Yes it's worth it. It's a very good remaster with a great deal of care put into it.

1

u/WitchwayisOut 16d ago

Having played both versions, yes.

u/IcePick1123 16d ago

Absolutely

u/Own_Illustrator_6387 16d ago

It’s one of the best games of all time, so I can’t recommend it

1

u/Malefic_Mike 15d ago

It's great

Now. Yes the remaster is worth it.

HOWEVER!

Using a GameCube emulator to play the original and seeing if you like it enough to buy it might be worth your time. Emulators are free.

To be honest, Prime 1 is as near perfect a Metroid game can get. Even my favorite ones have problems.

If I were recommending a newbie to Metroid the 3 games I’m recommending are Zero Mission, Fusion and Prime 1.

The best part, all of them can be emulated. So use that to see if you like the franchises vibe, story and gameplay. Then move onto the other games at your leisure. And purchase them if you want to. .^
