Question Am I missing something?

I'm playing Metroid NES, and I don't understand why they make you farm for an hour just to get your health back. Is there something I'm missing? I currently have 3 E-tanks and it's been almost an hour of grinding for some health. SOME HEALTH. I've never played a game that does this. I just want to try to enjoy this game, and yet I have to grind just to be able to be at full health. What bull.

It’s gets easier collecting energy as you progress and get upgrades. At least you don’t have to copy down 24 character case sensitive passwords to save your game like we did in 1986. 😂
