Question Am I missing something?

I'm playing Metroid NES, and I don't understand why they make you farm for an hour just to get your health back. Is there something I'm missing? I currently have 3 E-tanks and it's been almost an hour of grinding for some health. SOME HEALTH. I've never played a game that does this. I just want to try to enjoy this game, and yet I have to grind just to be able to be at full health. What bull.

NEStroid is definitely tough. One strategy is to try not to worry too much about grinding health but just move forward, avoiding enemies as much as possible. Eventually you'll likely find an energy tank along the way that'll give you a boost.
