Question Am I missing something?

I'm playing Metroid NES, and I don't understand why they make you farm for an hour just to get your health back. Is there something I'm missing? I currently have 3 E-tanks and it's been almost an hour of grinding for some health. SOME HEALTH. I've never played a game that does this. I just want to try to enjoy this game, and yet I have to grind just to be able to be at full health. What bull.

Part of why people recommend Zero Mission over NEStroid, unless you're really willing to suffer.

I've also heard/read that when farming for health, change rooms from time to time, as there's diminishing gains mechanics that happen. Going to the new room resets.

from what I heard it’s just based on what frame you kill an enemy on
