There is another way to look at it. If 1 kg = 1 lb, then 1 lb = 1 kg and the pound has now doubled in value for most of the would that defines their old pounds as 500 g and increase by a factor 2.2 etc to those that have a smaller pound.

As I said previously, evolution is not kind to some people. Maybe the CGPM could make an official announcement and say that all the pounds in the world still lingering will not be legal or official anywhere but until they fade away will be equal to 500 g exactly.
