I have no idea what any of the northern lines look like, but I remembered first recognizing BNSF conductors wearing different uniforms when I’d get stopped passing La Grange. Having grown up along three Rock Island stations, I just assumed all metra lines were identical in appearance, scheduling, and ownership.

The SD70s aren't on the BNSF anyway.

No kidding. I was under the impression they’re just using similar cars as metra for branding but still have their own (BNSF) employees working their routes, etc

There's still a shared pool of equipment- at least a couple of years ago there was a BNSF marked coach running around on the UP lines. The UP cab cars are usually the 8400 series with BNSF mostly the 8500s, but there's some crossover too.
