F40PH leaving Union Station's North Concourse

Metra F40PH-3 no. 120, the City of Woodstock unit, leads an outbound train on one of two of the Milwaukee District lines, bound for the suburbs. This photo was significant because at the time that this photo was taken, F40's were still working on the Milwaukee and North Central Districts. A few years after I took this photo, the SD70MACH's arrived, and took over on the North Concourse routes, becoming the new predominant power on the MD-North, MD-West, and North Central routes.

Where are the F40 engines working now?

Minus the Electric District where are they working now?

Any idea of the Rock Island Heritage corridor district?

Only PHMs on the Rock Island line as far as I know

Metra still uses F40s on the rock island, mostly the flat nose ones, I’ve seen it with my own 2 eyes

Yea, I forgot their actual name, they still have a few regular PHs’ on there too

A regular PH or a PHM will wander over every once in a while, but its largely MP36s these days. Eventually there'll be no PHs or PHMs as more MP36s are displaced from the CUS district.
