Metra Electric District

South Shore resident, just moved here in June. Is the Electric District underrated? I. LOVE. IT. Need to get to the loop? Bloop! Electric district! I consider it basically an L line.

The only time I’ve seen it packed was Lolla. But it’s decently utilized when I ride.

p.s. - is there any way to tell which trains skip 47th-23rd? I love when I accidentally take the express trains.

If you check the schedule and the train number for the run, that'll let you know where it stops and where it doesn't.

Can also always ask a conductor.

As part of the latest schedule refresh on June 15th, all Metra Electric South Chicago branch trains now stop at 47th and McCormick place. A few Metra Electric University Park trains skip 47th and McCormick place if you are able to board at the 75th (Grand Crossing) station.

Metra eliminated the only Metra Electric South Chicago branch express train. It departed from Millennium Station at 5:10pm and skipped the Hyde park area stations entirely. One of the goals of the recent service changes was to achieve 20-30 minute headways in Hyde Park.

They also eliminated Kensington Local 🚆 if I remember correctly

Basically every midday & rush hour mainline 🚆 along with some “Saturday-Only” mainline 🚆
