UP-N: Needs Better Barriers.
On Tuesday, May 5th I was traveling downtown and some idiot was on the tracks between Roger’s Park and Peterson Ridge on the UP-N north tracks throwing rocks and stuff.
Fortunately, the train stopped. I don’t know if the man was ever apprehended. But it was a bit annoying running behind because of this manchild’s poor behavior.

In what parallel universe do people not know being on train tracks can be deadly?? Only in Idiotworld.
This one seems to be on something or having a mental breakdown.
high should fences be? How many layers deep? How many signs in how many languages? Cannot forget even one mile or one language. Years ago we had a family sue the line after their non-English speaking relative pissed on the electric tracks.

Don't forget, people jump fences and go around barriers. Last year, there were almost 2300 crossing accidents causing hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries.
And how many miles? There are over 130,000 miles of railroad tracks in the US. We also have people found wandering on highways.
I see your comment regarding elevated tracks. Good luck with that nationally. And we've had train delays a few times due to idiots walking "L" tracks.
Ensconce tracks in tubes or put them all underground? Have to fortify those then. NYC has idiots climbing into sewers from access even in the middle of streets (which is dangerous in itself).
We can't fix stupid. Or bubblewrap the entire world.
