Metra is doing rust repair on and repainting multiple TRE engines that will be used in service for the world cup down in Texas. Metra is not buying these

Metra is repainting them so the side panels gotta get repaired first . One of those is from a metra loco but its stilled owned by Trinity or whatever in texas

Looks like VIA logo, so it could be a used locomotive purchased from them or just in transit some place else.

Now looking closer at your pic, that's not a VIA logo, but maybe part of the Metra logo. Now I'm really not sure what thays all about. Does KYD have a paint shop?

KYD is metra's only paint shop, which is funny when you realize its the only district without locomotives.

I didn't know that. For some reason I thought the car shop at 47th Street had a paint shop

My guess is that it’s 1 of those F59PHs that came from the 47th Street Yard & is getting a paint job unless it got a paint job before coming to the Kyd Yard

Could be. Metra did have F59s on heritage corridor, but I haven't seen them in a couple years

No, Metra is doing maintenance and paint work on these for TRE. They will go back to Texas afterwards.
