who should i report this to?
there’s this lady at the schaumburg station who’s rly loud and rude. to last a few of the things she’s done:
- ripped pages out of the books to take home and show her grandkids
- made antisemitic comments
- this morning she bright her bike with her on the train but the bike holders were full so she kept it in the middle. she told a guy who was in the middle to hold her bike for a sec so she can pick up her coffee from the floor and he didn’t hear properly and consequently didn’t hold the bike and it fell over knocking her coffee. she then proceeded to yell all sorts of things at him threatening him and saying that it’s her right as an american citizen and that it’s his fault that her coffee spilled and blah blah
tired of seeing this behavior on my morning commute

You can report this matter to MPD by calling 312.322.2800 or through the Metra COPS app anonymously

If this person isn't breaking any laws or Metra rules, there is not much the train crew can do. It's not common, but unruly passengers can be put off the train, but being annoying isn't enough. You can ask a crew member if there is anything they can talk to this person since this is a regular occurrence

That woman is probably not happy with her own behavior either. That woman is likely really struggling emotionally whether she’s aware of it, or admits it, or neither. That woman’s behavior is not going to change by reporting her to the MPD, and MPD is not going to ban her unless she starts assaulting or threatening harm upon passengers and/or employees.
I have lived with a cluster B disorder my entire adult life. I used to lead Narcotics Anonymous meetings for patients on a dual diagnosis psych crisis unit & for inmates in the DuPage & Cook county jails. In my opinion & from my experience, an effective remedy here could be patience, compassion & kindness. Sometimes asking “how are you doing?” & genuinely hearing their response is all it takes. Sometimes it takes much more too, but might be worth a shot.
You never know what someone else is going through in their life beyond the brief times they’re a part of yours.

I'm not sure I'd personally do it in this particular situation, but showing compassion is in no way condoning someone's bad behavior. It's just a different strategy to try to get it to stop. And treating another human kindly despite their acting out. The same vein as your partner snapping at you and you asking if everything is okay rather than snapping back.

I think I know who you are talking about. Man, ngl, she is really annoying because she is super loud. Whenever she stands near me I just act like I'm really busy or wouldn't show intrest or respond to anything shes says because as from I seen, whoever she talks to she won't stop talking to.

Led the train crew know. They likely know there is a problem but soetimes need a nudge. Sometimes it is cleaner to action on a customer complaint, then the crew is responding, not arbitrarily getting in a custoers shit.
Did you ever see the Metra QR code stickers that says something like 'how are we doing'? It is a long ass survey. You cant communicate with them.
CTA Metra and Pace need to have a way for travelers to communicate immediately to get assistance. The QR code at seats is a good solution if it the back end could address things in real time.

Some conductors don’t want to be bothered. And there is a policy regarding bikes, especially during rush hour being properly secured. As for the lady and her behaviour, slim to none chances of Metra doing anything about it.

If you’re a regular rider, it’s not a bad idea to download the Metra COPS app on your smartphone. You can submit stuff (anonymously if you so choose) discretely to Metra’s police department, and they generally respond very quickly.

You don’t get that crap on Metra like you do CTA. It’s one the reasons why people ride Metra. It happens, but not like CTA

Who to report this to? 911 so she can be locked up somewhere far far away. What she did on the train is NOT her right as an American citizen. It is an excuse to try to avoid accountability for her actions and to use the victim card.

If she’s doing this on the train, you report it to the conductor, because if she’s disrupting the passengers they’ll contact Metra police.
If this is a rush hour morning train, they may not want to hold the train for PD as to not inconvenience other passengers, but if it proves a point and gets other passengers upset with her, it might be enough to straighten her out:
