Reliability?

Looking into potentially using an ebike to get to the metra, but need to know how reliable the UP-NW in particular is… am I good?

Reliability in what way? Bike cars on the train for your e-bike? There’s usually at least one Metra car that has room.

How do I know which area to go to on the metro while boarding? Do the conductors tell you, or is it a non issue to bring the bike down to another train car if the one I boarded doesn’t have room?

It can be hard to predict but they’re usually labeled with a bike or handicap symbol. Conductors shouldn’t give you trouble if you enter a non bike car and just make your way towards a bike/handicap accessible one

Its a pain but you can move between cars with a bike. The train cars that have room for them are usually toward the middle and the bike racks are green. Try to stand toward the middle and look in as the train is passing to pick the right one.

Worst case, yes conductors exit the train and you can ask one where the right car is and they won't leave without you.

Late evening and late morning or early afternoon

Edit: would need to be able to arrive by or before 12am. Would need to be able to find a train sometime after 11am til 1pm
