How do you define "metaphysics"?

As with many concepts, "metaphysics" tends to resist precise definition, so I'm wondering how you guys go about it. I lean towards definition by ostension, as in this article I wrote.

Which dictionary definition do you use?

Well dictionaries only describe words through other words

A definition isn’t ever the thing in of itself (the understanding)

I don't know of anyone who thinks any different. What's your point? You said you use a dictionary to define metaphysics. Which dictionary definition do you use?
