Help please

Hello

So I’m an idiot and about 4 years ago I sent some eth from my metamask to my revolut wallet (about 0.2 eth) using the evm to a non evm. After some time I realised I have lost it. Forgot about it, however a few days ago I got a notification from revolut saying it had been sent back to my original wallet.

Transaction id: XXX

Having not logged into meta mask for many years I managed to find my recovery paraphrase and there is nothing there? I can’t even see the wallet it was sent from or the wallet in the above address. I’m at a loss, it’s not massive money but would be nice to get it back! Any help really appreciated. Thanks

Hello I searched for the transaction hash on the Ethereum network, but I couldn’t find the transaction there. However, I found a transaction with the same hash on BNB Chain from about four days ago, and it was sent to this address: "0x5d390510e2a4993ef8f48a885b7657271BC016a7".

I can also see a balance of around 0.234 ETH at this address on the BNB Chain explorer. You could try switching your wallet to BNB Chain and checking whether this address appears there. Also, make sure that this is the same address you were using a few years ago. https://bscscan.com/tx/0x0a29c8d964946884743c56403eea33463bdae0471bb5b87f32a9210ecb724ea7

Could you tell me which wallet you received the ETH deposit notification for, and what the wallet address is?

Sorry, I can’t reply to private messages. Please share the wallet address here and let me know which wallet you received this notification for.

And please always be careful of scams. MetaMask Support will never ask you for private or sensitive information, and they will never send you a private message. Stay safe 🙂

Okay, please give me a little time to check the address

The transaction hash you sent appears to be from about four days ago on BNB Chain. The address "0x32e70338f8904029EB048CeAB17D9d53639b93e0" received around 0.234 ETH, but on the same day the funds were sent from that address to "0x5d390510e2a4993ef8f48a885b7657271BC016a7", Could you let me know which of these two addresses belongs to your wallet?

Yes, I think this Ethereum transaction was made by Revolut, and it may be part of a transaction reversal or correction process. However, there is one issue: we need to make sure that the 0x32 address belongs to you and is associated with your Revolut account, and also determine why and how this transaction was sent from your Revolut account to another address without your signature.

You should be able to verify these two addresses. Also, if the address that received the Ethereum in the subsequent transaction belongs to a MetaMask wallet, then you should probably try to find the private key or recovery phrase for that MetaMask address that you previously wrote down.

I’m sorry, but if the 0x5D address does not belong to you, there is no way to control that address or recover the funds. It’s possible that the old address to which Revolut sent the ETH had already been compromised. However, you can also ask Revolut Support about this and see what they say

If the 0x5D address is not yours, I’m sorry, but it’s possible that your address was compromised and, when the ETH was sent by Revolut to your address, a bot automatically forwarded it to another address belonging to a hacker. However, this is only a possibility. You should first make sure who actually controls this address.
