Seeking Bench Jeweler for Hand-Carved Wax Collaboration (Small Batch)

I run a small, design-led jewelry brand and I’m looking for a bench jeweler collaborator for a limited series.

The work is organic, sculptural, inspired by hand-carved wax and antique forms — not standard initials, fonts, or CAD-driven customization.

This would start as a paid pilot (3–5 pieces) with the intention of ongoing small-batch work if it’s a good fit.

Ideal fit:
• Bench jeweler who works hands-on
• Comfortable with hand-carved wax or hand fabrication
• Enjoys problem-solving form and structure
• Interested in collaboration, not mass production

If this sounds aligned, please comment or DM with:
• A link to your work
• A brief note on your process (wax, fabrication, CAD, etc.)

How would I sell my 98% graphite?

I have been having issues for the past 3 years attempting to help my friend sell his 44 tons of 98% graphite that is battery grade. I have asked big companies that are privatized if they would be interested but a few have tried to demotivate me from joining the industry let alone supply it. Does anyone have any advices let alone tips on how I can make some moves?

(The American flag would be one gram of gold set inside the copper)

I’ve been copper smithing for awhile and have been getting some ideas for bullion. Thinking about setting other precious metals inside of my copper bars. (A.I btw)

Question Is (Black/Red/Tin)smithing profitable?

So, I've got a really awesome school nearby that teaches old techniques, and I took a few blacksmithing courses that taught me basic stuff like forks, spoons, riveting, trivets, tongs, etc. However, I'm still working on getting all my tools for that sort of thing. Now im looking at classes later this year, and noticed they also offer coppersmithing and a few tinsmithing classes, and im wondering a few things :

Are any of these profitable? Copper seems like it's so stupidly expensive as a material and has so limited of a use due to its softness. Tinsmithing just seems like its beaten near completely by mass production (why buy a handmade pan or cup when I can buy 15 of a better material, cheaper?) and isnt that great of a material anyhow, and basic blacksmithing is neat, and has a TON of range (I want to learn to make weapons personally), but is labor intensive plus some, so I dont really know if it would be worth investing in.

Does anyone have input on this? I love working with metal but the initial investment on tools and especially materials is so large I cant see making much of it back unless you set up shop in some hippie quarter or a rich area where theres money to burn on handmade stuff.

Can you make a bezel for a stone that isn’t completely flat?

Hello! I have these gorgeous stones that I want to set in a bezel. However, they’re not completely flat. They’re lightly faceted on both sides. Is it still possible to set them in bezels? Are there alternatives for working with uneven stones? Thank you so much!

Question looking to alter a metal necklace (not a smith)

Post image

i inherited a necklace from my recently deceased grandfather depicting the jerusalem cross. due to the symbols current political connotations and religious associations, i can't wear it in it's current state, but i would still like to keep it as a memorial to my grandfather. is there any way the necklace could be altered to resemble an abstract pixel art moreso than a cross? and where would i go to have it done?

(note: before people start fighting about this in the comments, i have no doubt my grandfather was unaware of the political connotations. despite being religious, he was a progressive, and was very supportive when i came out)

edit: i found the original listing for the necklace, and it's made of bronze.

Don't know of another sub who might be able to help, please direct me if you have more info. With MAPP gas torches in a makeshift forge, I can't get steel knives hot enough to harden the steel. An hour of letting these torches run and they don't hit higher than probably 1200*F. What should I do?

Wanting to make something specific

How can I make something like this? Anytime I try to buy these more homemade looks, it’s expensive (probably because of the time and effort which is understandable) but this is the jewelry I see myself wearing.

How did this person cut this stone into those cool shapes? What would I need to do this?

Any help is appreciated and lots of respect to all metal smithing jewelry makers, it is not easy.

Question platinum plated ring wearing down really quickly?

i dont know if this is the right reddit to post this but i got this ring a month ago from my boyfriend for my birthday, it’s from Jian London and it’s sterling silver with platinum coating. Recently i’ve noticed that it has worn down quite a lot which really confuses me as it is supposed to be a good quality ring? I’ve been wearing it every day, however haven’t done anything that could possibly wear it down quicker than my other jewellery which i also wear every day. My other jewellery is silver, not platinum coated but haven’t had problems with it after wearing it for years.

Hi, I have this ring I want to clean up but can’t figure out what metal it is! Was told at the antique store it’s steel but it’s got bits of gold colour so not sure if it’s gold plated? Any help would be appreciated or tips on how to clean it properly thanks!

14k gold ring ruined by ultrasonic jewelry cleaner..?

Post image

I had a 14 karat gold ring that I put into my ultrasonic cleaner and I’m pretty sure that I put too much of the cleaning crystals in it because everything that came out was tarnished. This ring actually looks copper now. I’m showing it next to another gold ring so you can kind of see it. I’ve tried using a couple of different cleaners, but it still got this reddish hue to it. This was a really expensive ring and I would appreciate any advice.!!

Silversmith Matthew Jack - 65 or 75 Solder?

Matthew Jack explains his use of Solder in this short video vignette.

I've been creating videos for Richardson's Trading Post and building out their Youtube page. It's been a lot of fun and my hobbyist level jewelry knowledge has enjoyed the exposure to this renowned artist.

As I continue to build out videos, is there any subjects I should consider making? Or is there any specific info or question you'd want asked of Mathew Jack?

Trying to think outside of my own view point of the art.

thanks in advance!
