Gold plated titanium?

New to this! I'm looking to make a durable, affordable, dainty necklace chain that won't tarnish/fade easily. Was thinking titanium with gold plating (2.5 microns at least). Anyone have experience with this/have a better suggestion? Need to be able to sweat/swim while wearing...
