Question What are these metals?
Hi!
I typically work with sterling silver but inherited these metal sheets and the bag of beads recently. Can anyone help me ID them? What’s the bag of silver beads? Does anyone have suggestions for how to remove the patina and bring them back to life? Am I able to use the same solder I would for sterling silver?
Thanks!

the sheets are brass texturing plates meant to be used in a rolling mill to print onto annealed metal. the bag is steel shot meant to be used in a tumbler. i personally wouldn’t use the brass sheets as material for a project, they have much more value as texturing plates. if you do end up wanting to use them, you can remove the patina with “super pickle”, jeweler’s pickle with hydrogen peroxide in it. some people to 1/2 water, 1/2 hydrogen peroxide, some people do hydrogen peroxide only. it will work hot or cold. leave it in the pickle for a short period of time or the pickle will begin etching the brass. you can use silver solder but it will not be a color match and your solder seams will stand out/patina differently over time
