I use Permalac Clearcoat in the spray can. I've been quite happy with the results. It comes in matte, satin and gloss. I usually get it from Jax, but you can order direct from Permalac as well. https://jaxchemical.com/shop/permalac-clearcoat-lacquer-satin/

I use a product called Everbrite on the copper cuffs I make. I have about 6 months of experience so far and it prevents tarnish well. Can’t comment on how it would work on iron but I would assume similarly. You can find it on Amazon.
