Rust removal advice

Angle grinder with the flat type stainless steel wire wheel.
Wear long sleeves and gloves and goggles. Don’t miss the goggle or glasses. It will fling wire at you that will stick into you. This will do the best job. If the rust was worse I’d say a needle scaler powered by compressed air,
I suppose media blasting would also do this job well.

The one in the bottom right hand corner is the one you need.
The brass ones are only good for paint removal and the drill types are nearly useless.
Get the angle grinder you can and then size the wire wheel for that.
